Residential Verification

Existing Families

If you already have children attending Nailsworth Primary School, the enrolment of a younger sibling at the reception level is automatic.

To complete the enrolment process, please bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate or a copy of their passport to the Front Office. Once their date of birth is verified, you will be asked to complete a department enrolment form.

Please note that if all of the child’s siblings have left the school and the family is an out of the zone, enrolment is not automatic. In this case, the new child’s enrolment will be considered with other out of zone requests.

Proof of Residency

In South Australia, placement in a school is based on a child’s residential address. It is the responsibility of the parents to verify that the information provided is true and factual. Renting a room or rooms at a property for your child does not constitute a primary place of residence. Families must rent an entire property in order for it to be their primary place of residence.

The principal is responsible for determining whether proof of residence has been satisfied and may use professional judgment in circumstances where families are not able to meet these requirements.

Upon receipt of evidence to the satisfaction of the school, the processing of the enrolment application may be finalised. Many schools will ask parents and students to also attend a pre-enrolment interview, information sessions and transition days.

New Arrivals to Australia

Nailsworth Primary School is an English-speaking school. If your child has recently arrived in Australia and has limited English, then it is advisable that they firstly attend a New Arrivals Centre. These centres are based at Hampstead Primary and Gilles Street Primary.  At these centres, children are provided specialised tuition in smaller classes which provides an opportunity for intensive English tuition. Once the child’s language becomes proficient they then return to their base school.

Visa Holders

If you are a temporary visa holder and your dependents are of school age, their enrolment will depend upon the visa subclass.  In some circumstances, a Letter of Authority from the South Australian International Education Services (IES) and fee payment is required prior to acceptance of enrolment.  Information can be obtained either by phone on 82263402 or at the following website http://www.international students.sa.edu.au/
